Single of the week OUT NOW

If you love Jason Derulo’s voice and the sound of trumpets this is perfect for you.

Although lyrically this song isn’t at its best it will capture you with its cleverly crafted trumpet symphonies that get into your head on first listen. Trumpets is the 4th single from his No1 album Tattoos but nothing beats the lead single Talk Dirty feat 2 chainz.

Album of the week OUT NOW

Dropped in both the US and UK this week album of the week is Ingleworld by Skeme, who is under the same label as Kendrick Lemar. The album features hip hop guests Nipsey Hussle, K Roosevelt, Dom Kennedy, Wale and the only female to the cut Miss Iggy Azalea.

Taking a sense of pride in where he is from Ingleworld is a 15 track album about real life on the West Coast of California. Lyrically Skeme calls himself the ‘duke’ of rap and claims he isn’t here to outshine his competitors such as Rap God Eminem but nevertheless he’s one to watch. Skeme’s videos are already in motion with Wale’s collaboration snippet already filmed in NYC but if it’s Iggy Azalea’s feature you are after you will need to check back early 2014.

Video of the week: OUT NOW

A whopping 17 epic videos from Beyoncé surprised the nation last week made it impossible to pick a favourite!

Instead this week’s video of the week is from 19 year old London Lass Laurel. Fire Breather dropped last month as a free download and it has been on our minds ever since. This dark pop song is about the young love of her destructive partner. Loved-up bliss doesn’t last for long as Laurel’s partner gets mixed up in the wrong crowd.

Leaving her with more bad luck than just a tarot card, will this tattooed beau make it safe for them to stay or will they have to up sticks and leave their trailer park home for good?

Week Commencing 9th Dec

Single of the Week OUT 9th DEC

If a 19 date UK arena tour, a Royal Variety performance and this year’s Capital FM Jingle Ball wasn’t enough to keep the mandem busy before her US adventure supporting Robin Thicke, Jessie J has thrown in another single release.

This time Thunder makes the cut, making it the 3rd release from her 2nd studio album Alive.

Worried Jessie had lost her edge when previous Singles Wild and It’s my Party screamed more commercial pop than Simon Cowell, Thunder draws on the rawness and vulnerability that resonated on her debut album Who You Are. Thunder is an epic infusion of energy designed to lift spirits on any dark day.  Belting vocals, lyrics that spark positivity and written quicker than a lightning bolt can Thunder rubble the charts enough to storm to the top!

Album of the Week OUT 10th DEC

The name R Kelly has been floating around since 90s but it’s his latest duet with the wackiest women of Pop Lady Gaga that has caught our attention.  Do What You Want (with my body) is not the only song that R Kelly has been working on as he makes a comeback with his own album Black Panties.

Leaving little to the imagination Black Panties is a raunchy baby-making album with the odd ‘fuck with a nigga’ thrown in for good measure.  Lyrical content not at his best with this album the R&B sound and R Kelly’s soul is always fitting for a nightclub.  Selling over 40 million albums featuring hits Bump N Grind & Ignition R Kelly has always been a man who can turn anything into a sexual nature.

Royals singer Lorde premieres the official video for Team. Inspired by a dream, this video shows the true beauty of Lorde’s creative mind.

She explains: “This video was born from a dream I had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen. I dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. And of this world, I dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in—sometimes the person who loses is stronger.”

Switching up her all dark everything trademark for a pearly white gown and braids this girl is not afraid to challenge not just with her music but also her image. At just 19 this New Zealand star is the discovery of the year!
