XOYO London, 3rd June 2014
Impressed by Kiesza’s debut UK show at Electrowerkz, her second London performance in just two weeks at XOYO seemed like an opportunity not to be missed! It’s evident Kiesza is keen to reward her UK fans for making her dream possible – after all it’s not every day your debut single peaks at No.1 is it? Hideaway has already reached an astounding 25 million views on YouTube in just over 3 months, and there’s little sign of her hype slowing down.
Accompanied on stage by two muscular males, these aren’t security guards, but in fact her funky dancers bringing infused dance pop bangers to a whole new level! Dressed in signature sweat pants and crop top, she opened with No Enemiesz/Giant in my Heart whilst bopping out her choreographic dance routine directed by Ljuba Castot.
Dropping her robotic shapes for a jaw breaking performance of Haddaway’s What is Love while perched on the keys, Kiesza proved she has more to offer than her dancing/singing combo! This was quickly followed by the most haunting version of Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah to date! Upping the tempo, Kiesza chanted she came to party ending on her finale track, Hideaway. A song that holds some of the best dance choreography since Cheryl Cole’s Call My Name video, this song alone is well worth seeing in a live setting.
Granted the set was exceptionally short for someone who was advertised as a headline act, Kiesza gave it 100%. Cranking things up to high in the vocals and dance department, it’s clear Kiesza’s future remains not in ballet or the navy, but on that stage!
Kiesza will be performing live at this summers Wireless and Lovebox Festival.
