Single of the Week: OUT 14th Aug

Now

Last years most blogged artist Disclosure aided the success of both Aluna George and British Critics Award winner Sam Smith. However when it came to Sinead Harnett’s track Boiling, things didn’t quite take the same path. Now that the first official solo release has been given the green light; we hope she starts receiving the justice she rightly deserves!  With a beautiful and somewhat comforting tone, Sinead’s vocals on No Other Way featuring Snakehips is like a refreshing sorbet you yearn for on a summer’s afternoon. Simplicity is key here. Whilst the song doesn’t dangle the hook in your face, the melody subtly draws you in as you find yourself humming along to the beat.

Album of the Week: OUT 11th Aug

FKA Twigs made the first ever Hashtag Music appearance back in June 2013 and she’s back featuring her highly anticipated debut album LP1. Struggling to find the right words to describe this intricate beauty, FKA Twigs is notorious for all things weird it’s no wonder her name that has been on everyone’s lips from the get go!

Given her stage name due to her brittle bones and flexibility as a dancer, you only have to look at her puppet moves during Jessie J’s 2011 Price Tag video to see how apt her name is.  Backing dancer skills aside, this lady’s creativity is so advanced that half the time you will be left rummaging for a way into her mind.  Now dipping her toes into life as a singer, her layers of genius unfold during this 10 track masterpiece making Twigs fascinating debut one certainly worthy of its hype.

Video of the Week: OUT NOW

Aged only 19, British singer/songwriter Laurel already has her own record label Next Time Records, scored a deal with Turn First Artists on the strength of a demo, a modelling contract with leading agency Next Models and has graced the pages of Vogue, Grazia, Hunger, Q Magazine and more. Undoubtedly a lady in full control of her musical direction, Laurel reveals another captivating video. This time filmed by the channel crossing and the white cliffs of Dover.

Shells is the third release to be taken from her debut EP ‘To The Hills’ and whilst it wasn’t my favourite upon release, its definitely a grower.  Dressed in a white trench coat and matching summer dress, Laurel’s cute girl next door look is one to be admired. Often compared to the mysterious ways of Lana Del Rey and the haunting vocals of Florence and the Machine, whilst you may think these comments are a little far-fetched she is worthy of such praise.
